The Police Department is ordering six new portable computers after receiving permission this week from the City Council to spend $29,000 for the equipment.
Lt. Dennis Anderson said officers will be able to get driver`s license and vehicle registration information directly instead of by calling the Tri-Com Dispatch Center.
The units are scheduled to be installed in squad cars within six weeks to a month, he said.
