Natalie Quinn was just about the whole show Thursday while pitching and batting Hersey to a 15-1 five-inning rout of Mid-Suburban Conference rival Palatine in the quarterfinals of the Wheeling Class AA softball regional.
Quinn, a senior right-hander, fired her third no-hitter of the season, struck out eight and walked one to run her record to 21-1.
Hersey (22-3), which captured the Mid-Suburban North title and the conference title as well, stretched its unbeaten streak to 21.
Quinn had three hits in four at-bats, pounding out two doubles that accounted for three runs.
She was assisted at the plate by Carrie Hixson, who had two hits and scored twice, and Corrine Vossel, who had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
In another game at Wheeling, Kristen Zbikowski (three-hitter, 12 strikeouts) and Karen Starr (2 for 3, double, two RBIs) led St. Viator (15-8) to a 5-0 shutout of Wheeling.
East Aurora regional-Rosary (24-4) topped East Aurora 8-2 as winning pitcher Laura Feltes, Kelly Feltes and Angelique Quintanilla each had two hits and one RBI.
Johnsburg regional-Wendy Whittlinger (13-0) fired a three-hitter and Cari Podlski, Amanda DeVoy and Shelly Brey each had two RBIs as Johnsburg (22-1)
blanked Jacobs 10-0 in six. . . . Crystal Lake South (18-9) hammered Dundee-Crown 12-3 as Traci Tisch allowed just two hits and fanned 14 and Kate McCammon and Kelly Aimers each drove in two runs.
Warren regional-Jennifer Horne and Jennifer McDonald each drove in three runs as Zion-Benton (17-9) walloped North Chicago 29-2 in five. . . . Round Lake (17-6) ripped Grant 14-8 behind Kathy Foster (3 for 5, grand slam, five RBIs), Amy Drinan (2 for 4, three RBIs) and Jenni Kestler (2 for 3, three RBIs).
