Door-size bubbles, a giant mouth with teeth, oversize musical instruments that work, seashells, rocks, a sandbox and a life-size skeleton are a few of the hands-on exhibits at KidsPlace in the Chicago Academy of Sciences.

KidsPlace, a summertime exhibit in two rooms at the Academy, contains a variety of special items to teach preschoolers through 3rd graders about science.

Carolyn Bresler, Academy spokeswoman, said the most popular part of the exhibit is the bubble room with its giant bubble machine.

”Play and creativity are a vital part of science and the scientific process,” Bresler said.

KidsPlace, which runs through Aug. 30, is free with museum admission of $1 adults, 50 cents children. On Mondays admission is free. The Academy, at 2001 N. Clark St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. For more information call 312-549-0607.
