In response to Stephen Chapman`s July 16 column, ”Sad to say, the American Dream is alive and well,” I wish to caution all of us from becoming jaded and cynical.

The heart of the American Dream lies not in any specific program or in any kind of achievement.

The American Dream blessedly defies definition, allowing Americans to pursue any dream they have. The unique quality of being an American is that Americans dream.
