Digital Equipment Corp. has unveiled software for supercomputers that analysts say could help stimulate the market for the high-power, high-price machines. The software works on computers that use massively parallel processing, a technology that links hundreds of computer chips to
simultaneously work on pieces of complex problems. Although that market has grown, experts say it also has been hampered by debates over which type of computer architecture is best for such systems. Digital`s software is designed to work on either of the two major available architectures.
