– Andy Thomas, Sycamore-He scored 118 points in three games and tied a state record with 12 three-point baskets in the title game of the Sycamore Tournament to help his team to the title.
FOOTBALL
– Phil Adler, Wheaton-Warrenville South-The senior running back had 24 carries for 186 yards and three touchdowns, including a decisive TD run in overtime, as Wheaton-Warrenville won the state Class 5A title.
– Jeff Christensen, Richmond-Burton-He threw for one touchdown and ran for another as Richmond-Burton won the state Class 2A title Friday.
– Mike Mueller, Mather-The senior co-captain caught a 53-yard pass for the winning touchdown and had three interceptions and five tackles on defense to lead Mather to the Prep Bowl title Friday.
– Dane Shaw, Oswego-He had two interceptions on defense and scored on a 20-yard run on offense to help Oswego beat Geneseo 14-6 for the state Class 4A title Friday night.
– Mike Vakos, Naperville North-The senior linebacker had 12 tackles to spearhead a Naperville defense that limited Loyola Academy`s offense to 2.6 yards per rushing attempt in Naperville`s Class 6A championship victory Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
– Cara Hoving, Waubonsie Valley-The 5-11 junior guard had a total of 100 points, 46 rebounds and 31 steals in five games at the BRW Thanksgiving Tournament. Her team took second place.
– Heather McNulty, Andrew-The senior led her team to three victories en route to the championship of the Bloom Thanksgiving Tournament. Her three-game totals were 67 points, 21 rebounds, 10 steals and eight assists.
WRESTLING
– Keith McCoy, Providence-He won the 125-pound title at Saturday`s C.O. Feutz Invitational at Conant and was named the meet`s outstanding wrestler.
– Drew Mundsinger, Oswego-He pinned all three of his opponents to win the 112- pound title at Saturday`s West Chicago Invitational.
