Stage mother: Maureen Gallagher of Homewood effectively combines an acting career with doing her share of the nurturing of her children, ages 11, 9 and 6. Gallagher is appearing in the Wisdom Bridge Theater production of ”Triple Exposure.”
”I used to say it was easy to have an acting career when the kids were younger. I did a show and then took time off,” the actress said. ”The toughest part is not being there at bedtime to say goodnight. Thank goodness my husband, who is a banker, is always home when I leave for the theater,”
Gallagher added. ”All kids need a `presence,` whether it is mom or dad.”
The Gallaghers have been Homewood residents for 16 years.
The actress won a 1991 Joseph Jefferson Award for her role as the poet Emily Dickinson in ”The Belle of Amherst” at Body Politic Theater.
