How, pray tell, does the Senate chaplain merit a salary of $110,000 (Tribune, Jan. 3)? At age 76 he is not only depriving a young minister (with a family to support) of a position, but his efforts don’t seem to be productive.

With so many people objecting to mixing church and state, how does Washington get away with paying for praying?
