In Russia, today’s prostitutes may be tomorrow’s leaders of industry. According to a Russian newspaper, prostitutes in the central city of Perm are accepting government vouchers as payment for services. The going rate is one hour per voucher (current market value about 5,000 rubles, or $9). Four or five vouchers will buy a whole night. The vouchers were distributed free last autumn to the entire Russian population for Russians to buy stock in privatized state firms.
