Standards (and Other Songs) (Mike Stern, Atlantic Jazz).
If you’ve heard guitarist Mike Stern burning behind Michael Brecker or on top of his own group, this may come as a surprise. He turns out to be a pretty fair player at lower volume. And he can do the jazz standards to boot-Coltrane, Corea, Monk, Miles. He is not as distinctive in this mood as others are or as he is in more rockish settings, but he is worth listening to.
