Chris Nabholz kept his hex on the Pirates.
Nabholz (2-2), who allowed five hits in six innings, is 4-1 with an 0.41 ERA the last two seasons and 5-1 with a 1.69 ERA lifetime against the Pirates.
Nabholz allowed only one runner to reach third. John Wetteland finished for his second save.
Randy Tomlin (1-3) hit Moises Alou to start the fourth, and Alou promptly stole second as Tomlin attempted to pick him off. Alou moved to third on Wil Cordero’s groundout and scored on Greg Colbrunn’s sacrifice fly.
