Sweet on Wheaton: Wheaton has recently been listed in the new book “50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family” by Lee and Saralee Rosenberg, who also are authors of a book on fabulous places to retire.
The Rosenbergs used 15 criteria to choose the finalists among thousands of communities in the United States, including strong economic outlook, exceptional public school education and access to nearby colleges, diversified housing market, abundance of community services and programs, low crime and religious/ethnic diversity.
The only other Illinois community chosen for the book was Buffalo Grove, said Mike Douglas of the City of Wheaton.
Exhaustive research was required to make the selection, including talking to relocation experts, realtors, state and federal government agencies, economic development organizations, school districts, chamber of commerce executives and directors at the U.S. Census Bureau who track geographic mobility.
The Rosenbergs said Wheaton has “old-fashioned values that never went out of style.”
The book is available at Barnes and Noble, Town Square Shopping Mall, Wheaton.
