Kansas City Royals manager Hal McRae has agreed to a one-year contract extension for 1994, General Manager Herk Robinson said Tuesday.

McRae, who spent 15 of his 17 major-league seasons with Kansas City, took over as manager in May 1991 when John Wathan was fired.

– Mets pitcher Anthony Young, who set a major-league record with 27 consecutive losses over two seasons, underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a spur in his right elbow. He is expected to be ready for spring training.
