A television, a videocassette recorder, an AM-FM stereo receiver, an amplifier and a gold watch, valued together at $1,600, were reported stolen Friday from a home in the 800 block of Melrose Avenue in unincorporated Aurora Township, the Kane County sheriff’s office said.

– A 17-year-old Montgomery youth faces theft and weapons charges after police said they discovered an allegedly stolen handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop at Montgomery Road and Hill Avenue in Aurora Township. Jeremy Jackson, 13 Crescent Ct., was charged with theft by possession, unlawful use of weapons, failure to carry a state Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, and resisting arrest. Deputies said they stopped Jackson’s vehicle Friday night after receiving a report he might be carrying a handgun he had allegedly stolen from a relative. Jackson allegedly tried to run from the officers to avoid arrest. Jackson was taken to the Kane County Jail where he was later released after posting bond. He is to appear Nov. 24 in Kane County Circuit Court.

– A 20-year-old Aurora man was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis after deputies found he was allegedly carrying 9.4 grams of marijuana, the Kane County sheriff’s office said. Keith M. Marin, 714 S. Union St., was arrested Sunday afternoon after his vehicle was stopped at New York at Loucks Streets in Aurora Township. Marin was taken to the Kane County Jail where he was later released on bond. He is to appear Dec. 1 in Kane County Circuit Court.
