Craig E. Benson, 33, of 1000 E. Spring Rd., Coal City, was charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle Monday after he ran off of Joliet Road and struck a picket fence, a utility pole and knocked over 10 foam candy cane lawn ornaments. Benson said he swerved off the road to avoid an oncoming car that was in his lane.
