Joseph W. Romagnoli, 71, the longtime owner of Italo-American Accordion Co., died Friday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Mr. Romagnoli and his wife, Anne, had owned and operated the Chicago-based accordion maker since taking over in 1953, 40 years after her father founded it. Born in Castelfidardo, Italy, which is known as the home of accordion making, Mr. Romagnoli was one of the last accordion makers in the U.S. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joanne Hernandez, and Rosanne A. Romagnoli; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Szykowny Funeral Home Ltd., 4901 S. Archer Ave. in Chicago. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Italy.
