A 28-year-old St. Charles man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to shoplift a steak, cheese, razors and shaving cream from a grocery, police said. Gary A. Collum of 1330 W. Main St. was arrested Thursday afternoon at the store in the 2000 block of Prairie Street. Collum posted $100 bond and was released. He is to appear March 3 in Kane County Circuit Court.
