Phone calls to Mundelein High School will be answered by a recording after an updated telephone system is installed in June.

The new system will save District 120 an estimated $600 each month over the current system.

At the end of a five-year lease-purchase agreement, said school superintendent Linda Hanson, the district will own the equipment. At that time, she said, the saving are expected to be $1,628 each month.

Hanson said the district would try to minimize the impersonality of an automated answering system by making a live operator the first option in the system’s recorded message.
