The press had Michael Jackson convicted a long time ago. Never mind innocent until proven guilty. Nevertheless, he bought his freedom, guilty or innocent, and has gotten the press off his case for a mere $10 million.

Now along comes Tonya Harding who, as usual, has been convicted in the eyes of the press. For Harding it’s guilt by association in the eyes of the press and, therefore, that of the Olympic Committee. Too bad Harding can’t buy the press’ silence like Jackson did and stop the feeding frenzy.
