John E. Knapton, 34, an assistant terminal superintendent for the Chicago & North Western Transportation Co., died Thursday of cancer in Copley Memorial Hospital, Aurora. Mr. Knapton, an Aurora resident, is survived by his wife, Cyndi; a son, Elliot; a daughter, Kirsten; his father, Christopher, director of media relations for Metra; his mother, Jean Campbell; his maternal grandparents; a brother; three stepbrothers; three sisters; and a stepsister. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wheatland Salem Methodist Church, Illinois Highway 59 and 95th Street, Naperville.
