A 41-year-old man was being held after police arrested him over the weekend on charges of breaking into a local church. Richard L. Cooks, of 1428 Elizabeth Ave., was charged with burglary, criminal trespass to property and trespassing, reports said. Police said they were alerted by an alarm from the First Congregational Church, 315 N. Utica St., shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday. Once inside, officers searched the building and found Cooks beneath a couch in a sitting room sleeping.
