In reference to your editorial, “The Cuban trade embargo should go” (July 3): Yes, Fidel Castro for 35 years has been imposing a feudalistic system from the Middle Ages on the island of Cuba, where he is the sole owner of life and property and the Cuban people are his serfs.
No, of course not, the United States cannot be a part of that. The only one to blame for the economic collapse is Castro. Canada, Spain, Mexico and the rest of the world are trading with him.
It is naive to think that Castro has changed. Ask the people in the Cuban prisons if Castro has changed. Has he stopped executing people? Ask the ones seeking asylum in the embassies, or ask the people leaving the island in boats.
We should establish a naval blockade like the one in Haiti to get rid of Castro once and for all.
