Cutback: Digital Equipment Corp. said Tuesday it will eliminate 14,000 of the 35,000 jobs in its Computer Systems division. The reductions will account for the bulk of the total 20,000 jobs to be cut during the next year, said a spokesman for the company, based in Maynard, Mass. Job reductions in the division will come “across functions,” he said.
