Johnstown America Industries Inc., a Chicago-based manufacturer of railroad freight cars, saw its second-quarter earnings dip to $446,000, or 5 cents a share, from $1.4 million, or 21 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales increased to $122.7 million from $83.5 million.

For the first six months, earnings dipped to $2 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with $2.5 million, or 38 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenues grew to $216.3 million from $176.3 million.
