Allowing our government to take over the health care industry is the first step toward the socialization of America.

We are so used to a totally free society that it is hard to comprehend a U.S.A. that is anything less. More than 30 years ago, I remember Khrushchev saying that the Soviets would take over our nation without ever firing a shot. Could he foresee a complacent American letting socialist ideas and systems become government policy? Maybe he saw us then better than we see what’s happening among ourselves today.

In our recent past, we realized that the wealthiest, best-fed nation on earth had some citizens who were not able to afford to feed themselves and their families properly. Did the government step in and socialize the entire food/grocery industry in order to help those who needed assistance? Of course not. Congress instituted the food stamp program to meet the needs of those particular citizens, while leaving free enterprise alive and well in the food industry.

Why can’t Congress apply the same philosophy to address the needs of those who need help accessing the best health care in the world? Why socialize the entire health care industry to help a certain segment of the population?
