Major airlines are cutting fares as much as 35 percent for spring travel in the United States as well as several other destinations. The U.S. discounts, launched by Northwest Airlines, cover travel between Feb. 21 and April 30. American Airlines, Delta, United and Continental said they would match some or all of the discounted fares. Tickets must be purchased by midnight Friday.
