In the otherwise excellent story in Tempo (Feb. 16) on Japanese-American women, there is an incorrect statement that only Japanese-Americans counted the actual immigrants as the “first” generation and their U.S.-born generation as “second” generation. Contrary to the story, the normal usage is to count every group that way.
