The proceeds from the auction of two vacant properties owned by Bensenville Elementary School District 2 will be used to expand Blackhawk Middle School.
Supt. Caesar Caldarelli said an 8.5 acre property at Pamela and Brentwood Drives sold for $750,000. A 9-acre tract at the northwest corner of Byron Avenue and Maple Street sold for $650,000.
The money will be used to add classrooms to consolidate all the district’s 6th graders at the middle school. The district did not, however, sell its administrative building, which is a former school constructed in 1917.
