Plans for a small duplex development on the southeast side of town have won the plan commission’s recommendation despite objections from neighbors.

Richard Baltsen proposes to build five duplex buildings and a single-family home on two-acres at Janes Avenue and Frontage Road near Interstate Highway 55. Because of the site’s small size, the development, known as Janes Pointe, does not meet the village’s requirements for single-family residential attached zoning and needs a special use permit to be built.

Neighbors have expressed concerns about the development’s density, driveway layout plan and possible impact on surrounding property values.

The proposal is scheduled to be considered by the Village Board July 11.
