Residents of the John Hancock Center who lost the first round of a legal battle over a no-dogs rule, will attempt to formalize the ban and appeal a judge’s ruling that found the rule invalid.
Cook County Circuit Judge Michael Getty on Friday temporarily shelved his ruling until Wednesday to give the Hancock residents time to schedule a vote on amending the center’s bylaws to include a ban on dogs.
Getty said the edict was imposed illegally in a ruling last week on a case involving a couple fined $20,500 by the building owner’s association for keeping a dog.
