In your July 9 article on school closings, Chicago Public Schools chief Paul Vallas refers to the Industrial Skill Center as a “technical school.”

Mr. Vallas should know better. We are not a technical school but an alternative school serving a mobile population of “at risk” students in danger of dropping out. In fact, we are the only full-service alternative school offering students a diploma.

How does Mr. Vallas propose to serve the needs of our students after closing us? I’m sure he has no idea because he apparently doesn’t even know what the mission of our school is.
