Police arrested a local man after they said they saw him driving a smoking car early Monday down the center lane of Main Street. Gary R. Hanssen, 27, of 651 Virginia Rd. was stopped near Congress Street, officers said. A breath analysis indicated Hanssen had a blood-alcohol content of .19, officers said. He was charged with driving under the influence.
