The Village Board voted Thursday to amend its leaf burning ordinance to extend the distance residents must have between a leaf fire and any structure to 20 feet from 10.
Village Atty. Mike Coppedge said the fire protection district requested the amendment.
The original ordinance has been in effect since April 1993, allowing residents to burn leaves from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
