The news commentators are now quoting dark predictions–or are they threats?–that the battle of the budget will not be resolved until the results of the November elections are known. I cannot believe that any politician who has any hope of success in November does not realize that the current cardinal priority is passing and approving some sort of “enduring interim budget” that will prevent any more government “shutdowns” until the political process achieves a new budget agreement.
