Residents of a troubled section of town are invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Friday in Sunnyhill School, 2500 Helm Rd., to hear about a new plan to improve the neighborhood and be given a chance to volunteer, village officials said Tuesday night.

The so-called “Indian section,” where the streets are named after Native American tribes, has been selected as the pilot area for a long-range improvement program.

Village officials are seeking 45 volunteers from the area to start off.

Also Tuesday night, the Village Board suggested questions for a survey to be distributed to residents in the pilot area.

Residents will be asked, among other things, their opinion of village services. Concerns about drugs and crime are expected to be general.
