I am a first-generation “beaner,” as Mike Royko so eloquently referred to Mexican people. His remarks are derogatory and crude, and I am having difficulty even believing that such remarks can be made. I recognize the constitutional right of any writer; however, along with this right comes responsibility and respect toward others. Obviously, Mr. Royko lacks both.
