The League of Women Voters is concerned with plans announced by the Pentagon to produce yet another generation of fighter planes, the F-22 (Main news, March 5). Production of 40 of these planes is planned for the Air Force at a cost of $11.1 billion to replace our F-15E planes, which the Air Force contends are already the world’s best fighter planes.
It seems that the Air Force is not satisfied with already being “ahead of the pack” in fighter planes but wants to be even further ahead. Is this a constructive use of our tax money?
