Although it might be tough to believe at times, spring has arrived in the Chicago area. Earlier this week, the sunshine and warmer temperatures spawned a number of activities along the Lake County lakefront. Some birds decided that the vacant piers at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor (below) would be a good place to roost. At Waukegan Harbor, maintenance supervisor Vern Law (right) took advantage of conditions to move an aluminum ladder that will be installed at one of the piers. But the weather continues to be fickle, and the Easter weekend might seem more like winter than a harbinger of better days. The forecast is for unseasonably cold temperatures with highs in the 30s.
