Thirty-nine residents attended a Planning and Zoning Committee meeting last week and signed a petition against a proposed development of 30 semidetached, single-family dwellings.
The site is in the 600 block of South Garden Avenue, a half mile from Springfield Avenue and Lake Street. The site is near where the developer of a proposed Burger King restaurant recently was denied permission to build.
Some of the same homeowners association members who spoke out against the restaurant now oppose the housing development.
The committee tabled the motion after hearing comments from its members and residents. It was recommended that Tom Robinson, of Robinson Development Inc., make some changes to his proposed plans and return to the committee later this month.
