At least 135 trees will be planted along parkways this fall and next spring.
Village officials approved spending $35,445 for the trees, which will be purchased through the Suburban Tree Consortium, an organization representing 16 communities.
Funding for the program will come from the village’s hotel-motel tax fund.
Oaks, maples, ashes and lindens will be selected for parkways, where road salt makes for tough growing conditions, said Richard Rolseth, the forestry supervisor.
