The Village Board agreed to a 3-year contract with Waste Management-West of Batavia.
With the current agreement set to expire at the end of August, the village and Waste Management-West negotiated an extension that resulted in keeping the present price of $1.44 per sticker for trash bag stickers.
Algonquin residents use a sticker system to pay for trash collection. Instead of paying a monthly fee, residents must affix a special sticker to each bag of trash left for pickup.
Waste Management-West also agreed to extend the leaf and brush pickup in the spring from two weeks to four weeks.
The company also will offer a second recycling bin free of charge to residents who need more than one; a third bin, however, would have to be bought.
The board also approved the annexation of 80 acres on the village’s west side. The land is to be developed by Schaumburg-based Ryland Homes.
