Lucille E. Doyle, 88, died Sunday in West Suburban Hospital Medical Center in Oak Park. Born in Chicago, she graduated from Austin High School. During World War II, she worked at Orchard Airport, now O’Hare International Airport, where she helped assemble C-54 aircraft. Mrs. Doyle was active in Operation Snowball, a program assisting mentally challenged individuals, and she made blankets and handbags for the patients. She was a member of the Seguin Associates, also a program for the mentally disabled. For her involvement that lasted more than 20 years, she was inducted into the Chicago Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. She was a 25-year resident of Forest Park before moving to Oak Park several years ago. Survivors include a son, James; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday in Drechsler-Brown Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
