For years one of my favorite places to take visitors has been Oak Park, particularly the area where the streets are lined with Frank Lloyd Wright houses.

A few weeks ago I was appalled to see signs in the windows of many of these houses discouraging visitors. They had the word “TOURISM” enclosed in a circle with a line through it, similar to the international symbol used for “no smoking.”

I wish someone could explain to me why anyone would buy a home of historic significance and then try to keep people from looking at it?
