The Glen Ellyn Plan Commission began preparations Thursday night to deliver a recommendation on whether the Village Board should approve the controversial Baker Hill development.
The commission has conducted a series of meetings over the last several months on the proposal to develop the 50-acre parcel.
Since the initial meetings, developer Town & Country Homes has revised the plans to reduce the number of town homes planned for the site to 197 from 234.
It also has added 17 single-family homes to the project, which previously consisted only of the multifamily housing and the 15-acre retail center at the northeast corner of Roosevelt Road and Illinois Highway 53.
Under the revised plan, the proposed shopping mall, which would be anchored by a Dominick’s Finer Foods, would remain unchanged in size and square footage.
Some 50 area residents were on hand for the Thursday evening session. The proposed project has been controversial, with opponents contending that the plan is too dense and could cause increased flooding in the area.
