Polls, polls and more polls. Why is it the news media believe people need to be told who’s winning an election before the votes are counted? I thought that was the reason for voting.

Perhaps polls are intended to influence the vote. Who are these pollsters anyway, and just how impartial and unbiased are they? Perhaps one day elections will be covered without poll results. And perhaps one day they’ll be covered like the important events they are and not like a horse race or popularity contest . . . but I doubt it.
