Recently I found an article I had saved from the Nov. 7, 1991, Tribune. It reads, in part:
“What does America need most? More productivity? Better schools? According to retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, the main problem in the nation is ethics.
” `People talk about leadership crisis,’ Schwarzkopf told 2,500 people at the Tulsa Business Forum this week. `It’s never a competence problem. It’s an ethical, moral crisis. It’s a problem of character.’ “
It would be a good idea to give serious thought to Gen. Schwarzkopf’s words as we go to the polls in November.
