Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
We read with great interest your feature on the University of Chicago Jazz Archives (Tempo, Oct. 31). While the Chicago Public Library is known for its unique Jubilee Showcase Video Collection and its Chicago Blues Archives, what is often overlooked is that the library has also been collecting jazz materials for nearly 50 years and possesses one of the nation’s finest collections of books about jazz, jazz discography and magazines.
Our recorded jazz materials preserve at least 10,000 discs, and our sheet music 10,000 scores. As a public library, our materials are available not only to scholars and researchers but to the general public jazz enthusiast as well.
