Benjamin B. Small, 85, a psychotherapist and former head of a court divorce conciliation service, died Tuesday in St. Francis Hospital, Evanston. Mr. Small was a World War II Army veteran. He received his doctorate in psychology and became a family and marital psychotherapist with a private practice in West Rogers Park. In 1965, he became a marital counselor with the Divorce Conciliation Service of the Cook County Circuit Court. He later became director of the program and remained until 1985. He recently moved to Wheeling and continued to counsel clients. Survivors include a daughter, Avis Kaplan; a son, Howard; two sisters; and four grandchildren. Services will be private.
