College bowl games dominated the tube on New Year’s Day. And the Northwestern Wildcats are among the teams that were dominated on the field.
The Wildcats went to their second straight bowl game, the Citrus Bowl, which was sweet. But things went sour when they lost, again, this time to Tennessee, 48-28. (But give ’em a break — a handful of players, including star running back Darnell Autry, had the flu!)
In other games: Ohio State won a thorny Rose Bowl game against Arizona State, 20-17; Brigham Young showed its winning fiber, beating Kansas State, 19-15, in the Cotton Bowl; Penn State probably partied hearty after topping Texas, 38-15, in the Fiesta Bowl; North Carolina said “Later!” in the Gator Bowl, beating West Virginia, 20-13; and Alabama finished in front to beat Michigan, 17-14, in the Outback Bowl.
