After the series of articles on the present state of the Catholic Church, it would be interesting to see a similar evaluation of the Protestant churches.

Protestantism has always stressed its non-institutional character (as opposed to the much-criticized institutional character of the Catholic Church). But because of that trait, it seems to me that Protestantism would have greater difficulties in doing well in the post-modern secular culture.

Among the post-communist countries in Europe, those with a Catholic tradition (Slovakia, Lithuania) managed somewhat better when confronted with the state’s progressive campaign against religion than the Protestant countries, such as the Czech Republic, Latvia or Estonia.
